SOLO SERIES 2021  *Jan and Feb 2021 Challenges CANCELLED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS*

With so much uncertainty in the world at present, including the ‘running  world’, we all need a new challenge – Something to aim for.. a goal, a test of endurance, an adventure..  The only definites at present are that we can run alone, but we still need that sense of urgency and motivation to get out there and hit the trails. It’s as much about our mental welfare as our physical.

We have a new race planned for April, but as an insight and recce/challenge, we are presenting this as a SOLO event during the month of January with a further two SOLO events planned for February and March 2021.

Our SOLO events are designed to be run ‘alone’ or with ONE other person from your support network or bubble (this may be modified by ongoing Government directives).

We will provide you with the map a gpx file and route guidance for each event. We will share your journey through a dedicated Social Media Event page and through your link to *STRAVA* so we can see in real-time your ongoing progress and achievement. Photos of your journey can be uploaded for a pictorial account of your adventure.

The Format:

Each event will be of ONE calendar month in duration.

Each event can be completed either as a ONE-day or MULTI-day Challenge. It’s entirely up to you!

Enter individual SOLO Challenges or all three to become the SOLO SERIES overall winner.. (Results and final finishing list will be published shortly after each Challenge’s timeframe elapses).

Data from *STRAVA* will be used to verify the event. ‘Total Time Elapsed’ data only so please be aware of this – ‘Moving Time Only’ data will not be recognised as a valid form of verification.

Bespoke Puretrail SOLO event Certificate and Puretrail Buff for every SOLO competitor to complete a Challenge event within the allotted timeframe (one calendar month).

Finishers of each respective Challenge will be entitled to a 10% discount on the cost of the Official Race later in 2021.

51 hallucinogenic miles from Nether Stowey, in north-western Somerset to Lynmouth on the North Devon coast. (The route can be run in either direction for the SOLO event).

Following the waymarked Coleridge Way long-distance footpath across the Quantock Hills and Exmoor, made famous by the romantic poet, philosopher and theologian Samuel Coleridge. It was his meanderings across this incredibly stunning landscape, quite often under the influence of Opium which lead to the outpouring of some of his most influential work and lead to the emergence of the Romantic Poet movement. Coleridge lived for many years in Nether Stowey, Somerset (The start of the April event).

The route itself is a varied mix of woodland trails, riverside meanderings and high moorland tracks, interjected with picture-postcard North Somerset and Devon villages. The Trail is waymarked by ‘Feather’ (quill pen) signage and is easy to follow.

Completion of the COLERIDGEWAYSOLO Challenge, once verified, will be rewarded with a COLERIDGEWAYSOLO Certificate along with a complimentary Puretrail buff. Final finishing positions for the Challenge will be posted on the website.

The FULL CIRCLE is a tough call at any time of year, but particularly so in winter. The 100 mile route follows the freshly waymarked Dartmoor Way long-distance footpath, skirting the periphery of Dartmoor. It is well marked throughout, but a certain amount of navigation will be needed. Puretrail will supply the GPX file for the entire route.

The FULLCIRCLESOLO can be undertaken from, and to any point on the Circle. Either clockwise or anti-clockwise but with the start and finish locations being the same.

The FULLCIRCLESOLO is an independent running challenge, but it is possible to ‘buddy-up’ with one other person, either for the duration or for selected sections.

FULLCIRCLESOLO Certificates and Puretrail buffs will be awarded to all those completing the Challenge within the month of February 2021. Final times and results lists to be posted on the website.

The official Dartmoor Way FULL CIRCLE 100 is set to go ahead in November 2021. Completion of the FULLCIRCLESOLO will automatically guarantee qualification for the main event in November and finishers will also be entitled to a 10% discount off the official race price.

 3. MARCH 2021 *Awaiting Government Directives*

Our most popular TSUNAMI distance – the 37.5 mile rollercoaster from Westward Ho! to Bude.

A precursor to the June event. The TSUNAMISOLO will be an extreme test of endurance with over 2600m of ascent. The route must be undertaken during the month of March 2021.

No coastal ultramarathon of under 50 miles can match the TSUNAMI ULTRA for the remoteness of location and total elevation gain, so to be undertaken as a solo event in very early Spring is an exceptional challenge, but definitely an achievable one.

A bespoke TSUNAMISOLO Certificate and Puretrail buff await all finishers when data from *STRAVA* has been verified.

Although the June event is run from North to South, for the SOLO event we will allow the route to be run in either direction.
