20th-21st April 2019
For this year’s Dartmoor BigDayOut (24th August) we’ve decided to include recce Weekenders as a prelude to the race itself. The idea is to give you a taste of The Crossing Ultramarathon, and Great Escape Long half-marathon before Race Day in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere.
Our first Weekender is set for the 20th/21st April, where we will be guiding a limited number of runners along the 36.5 mile route from Belstone to Ivybridge. It’ll be at a sociable pace, and all abilities are welcomed. We will be following the entire route of the Puretrail Dartmoor Crossing and Great Escape.
Included in this mini-Adventure are bus transfers from Ivybridge Rugby Club to our Belstone starting point, and overnight bunkhouse accommodation at the Plume of Feathers, Princetown (at 21 miles) where we can then eat, drink and be merry!
Your luggage will also be transferred from Ivybridge to Princetown and will be there upon your arrival.
We estimate Day 1 to be around 5 hours out on the Moor.
Day 2 will encompass the last 15.5 miles of the Crossing route and the Great Escape in it’s entirety. ! Around 4 hours in duration.
**This is not a race, it’s a Dartmoor running adventure and as such we are primarily getting ‘out there’ to have a good time and enjoy the stunning natural environment on our doorstep**
Numbers will be limited to 20 runners for this first Dartmoor Adventure.
You will be able to book your place from 6pm Sunday night via our usual SiEntries system.
The cost will be £60 per person, to include bus transfers from Ivybridge Rugby Club (free parking) to Belstone-North Dartmoor.
Luggage transfers from Ivybridge to Princetown, and then Princetown back to Ivybridge.
Overnight bunkhouse accommodation in Princetown, and two full days of guided Dartmoor running by the Puretrail ‘Ultraguides’.
You know it makes sense 🙂
See you all very soon.
